AFTER SCHOOL FOUR-WEEK SERIES
(Four classes, one per week)
Jr. Chefs After School Series Classes for kids & young teens! This four class series runs weekly on Wednesdays from 5-7pm throughout February. Each of the classes runs approximately two-hours and will focus on teaching specific cooking skills and utilizing a variety of ingredients to create delicious recipes for your kids to eat and enjoy! Learning through a combination of Chef demonstrations, lecture and hands-on learning, kids will gain the confidence, skills and experience to kick their cooking up a notch! Kids should come ready to learn, cook, have fun and be ready to enjoy the food prepared at the end of class!
WEEK 1: Wednesday, May 4th from 5-7pm
Breakfast Burritos: Kids will learn how to make tortillas from scratch while layering eggs and sautéed vegetables to make a hearty and delicious meal that can be enjoyed any time of the day! This class will last approximately 2-hrs...kids should come ready to learn, have fun and be ready to enjoy the food prepared at the end of class!*
WEEK 2: Wednesday, May 11th from 5-7pm
Sandwiches, Subs & Paninis: Kids will learn how to make a variety of custom sandwiches guaranteed to take their lunch game up a notch! This class will last approximately 2-hrs...kids should come ready to learn, have fun and be ready to enjoy the food prepared at the end of class!*
WEEK 3: Wednesday, May 18th from 5-7pm
Sheet Pan Dinner: Kids will learn how to utilize one sheet pan to make dinner. Kids will work on knife skills and learn about proper prepping of meat and vegetables for roasting in the oven in order to create a delicious dinner! This class will last approximately 2-hrs...kids should come ready to learn, have fun and be ready to enjoy the food prepared at the end of class! *
WEEK 4: Wednesday, May 25th from 5-7pm
Crepes - Sweet & Savory: Kids will learn how to make versatile crepes, which will be used to make sweet desserts Smith Island Cake and fruit stuffed crepes. But, don't worry, kids will also see how these crepes can be used as the basis for a dinner meal as well! This class will last approximately 2-hrs...kids should come ready to learn, have fun and be ready to enjoy the food prepared at the end of class! *

WEEK 1: Wednesday, March, 9th from 5-7pm
Kids will learn these two fundamental and essential cooking techniques. With the aid and instruction of our Chefs, the Roasting & Sautéing Workshop will teach your child these skills and how put them into practice...kicking your kid's cooking up a notch. This class will last approximately 2-hrs...kids should come ready to learn, have fun and be ready to enjoy the food prepared at the end of class! *
WEEK 2: Wednesday, March 16th from 5-7pm
Making the classic Chicken & Biscuits recipes, kids will learn the basics of braising and baking. Using recipes which will both teach and put into practice these two essential cooking methods to create a delicious dinner. This class will last approximately 2-hrs...kids should come ready to learn, have fun and be ready to enjoy the food prepared at the end of class! *
WEEK 3: Wednesday, March 23rd from 5-7pm
In our Sauces & Seasoning Workshop, kids will begin exploring the how's and why's of what makes recipes so tasty and delicious by learning to prepare basic sauces and how to use seasonings to create outstanding meals. This class will last approximately 2-hrs...kids should come ready to learn, have fun and be ready to enjoy the food prepared at the end of class! *
WEEK 4: Wednesday, March 30th from 5-7pm
In this workshop, Jr. Chefs will begin to learn the skills needed to of expand their culinary horizons by trying new and different foods. This will be an interactive workshop and will utilize the skills learned in the previous weeks. This fun filled class will open young minds through taste tests, planning a balanced meal, and working on timing for cooking and experimenting with unusual food combinations, so that kids can expand their palates. This class will last approximately 2-hrs...kids should come ready to learn, have fun and be ready to enjoy the food prepared at the end of class! *
WEEK 1: Wednesday, February 2nd from 5-7pm
One of the most essential tools that every Junior Chef needs is solid knife skills. With the aid and instruction of our Chefs, the Knife Skills Workshop will teach your child these skills and how put them into practice...kicking your kid's cooking up a notch. Through a combination of Chef demonstration, lecture and hands-on learning, our Knife Skills Workshop will teach kids the necessary knife skills to prepare a variety of recipes. This class will last approximately 2-hrs...kids should come ready to learn, have fun and be ready to enjoy the food prepared at the end of class! *
WEEK 2: Wednesday, February 9th from 5-7pm
Eggs are one of the most versatile, nutritious, and essential foods out there! And, one of the most difficult to master. It can be a meal of its own or an ingredient in countless recipes. In this fun and instructive class, kids will leave with the knowledge and skills to cook a variety of eggs all on their own. On their eggcellent journey, kids will learn to prepare perfect scrambled eggs, eggs over easy (a challenge for many adults), Omelettes and/or Frittatas and hard boiled eggs. This class will last approximately 2-hrs...kids should come ready to learn, have fun and be ready to enjoy the food prepared at the end of class! *
WEEK 3: Wednesday, February 16th from 5-7pm
Soups and salads are prepared and consumed by nearly every culture in the world. They are among the most fundamental forms of food, but recipes can range from very simple to incredibly complex. In this class students will be learning to prepare two different varieties of soups and a customized salad with dressing. Why soup and salad? Because of their versatility, both soup and salad preparation allows students to learn the basic skills they will need to not only prepare these delicious dishes, but also acts as a foundation recipe for so many other meals. And, it teaches kids how to select, mix and even substitute ingredients that suit a variety of tastes when cooking for others. Skills which can be carried over into almost any type of cooking. As part of this learning experience, students will be practicing various fundamental cooking skills, such as peeling, slicing, dicing, blending and sautéing ingredients in a fun and interesting way! *
WEEK 4: Wednesday, February 23rd from 5-7pm
Do you want your kids to learn the cooking skills they will need for life? In this class students will be learning to prepare a Stir Fry. Why Stir Fry? Because it is a versatile recipe that allows students to learn the basic skills they will need to not only prepare this delicious dish, but also acts as a foundation recipe for so many other meals, and teaches kids how to select, mix and substitute ingredients. Skill which can be carried over into almost any type of cooking. In addition, the kids will be learning to make rice on the stove top and practicing various fundamental cooking skills, such as peeling, slicing, dicing and sautéing ingredients in a fun and interesting way! This class will last approximately 2-hrs...kids should come ready to learn, have fun and be ready to enjoy the food prepared at the end of class! *
Some of our menus and recipes for workshops change based on the season, chef's inclination and the availability of the best ingredients possible! If you have a food allergy, please let us know as far in advance as possible. We will do our best to accommodate you, however make no promises that this will be possible.
